When the tide is out the coastline has a desolate feel to it, one of repeated abandonment. Boats are strewn about, stuck where they are until the moon pulls the ocean water back and allows them to sail away once more, only to get abandoned again a few hours later. The combined smell of drying mud, oil from leaking boats and salty sea air remind me of happy memories from my childhood, building sandcastles and ‘baking’ mud balls to throw at each other, paddle-skiing in the ocean and swimming across to Pelican Island. The sound of the wind roaring in your ears, blowing your hair here, there and everywhere, the cries of a lone seagull and the magical sound of rope clinking against boat masts and flagpoles all send me to that happy place deep inside myself. I loved it…
Leigh-on-Sea…
Off to the coast…
So, tomorrow I’m off to Leigh-on-Sea in Essex. Directly east from London, along the coast, as the crow flies. I’ll be helping a more experienced carer look after a little old lady in her home…
One, Two, Three, Four, Five…
Once I caught a fish alive. Six, seven, eight, nine, ten, then I let it go again. No, I’m not singing nursery rhymes! I’m carrying on my analogy from my post “just keep swimming”.
Questionable Answer…
I know you all dying to know the answer to the “Question of the week” I posed you last week! What with all the comments flying back and forth, the heated debate, and the life changing epiphanies we have all experienced. Amongst all this fast and furious action I managed to find the time to Google the problem and I think I have found a reasonable answer…yes elvislives#1, more reasonable than your idea of an alien conspiracy!
Just keep swimming…
It has been just under 2 months of day after day, repetitive, trawling of the vast ocean of jobs. Just like the fact that there is “always another fish in the sea” it takes a large amount of experience and knowledge on where to fish that will lead me to that elusive catch (I’ve been watching too much “trawlers, rigs and rescuers” on TV).
Question of the week…
A long, long time ago in a land far away… a Man stood up for what He believed in and was crucified for it. Disregarding the origins of this man, let us see what He saw. He looked around and was disgusted by all the corruption, politics, greed, sloth and disregard for human life that was occu… hang on, I’m confused again. We are talking about 2000 years ago, not present modern day! Are we not? Anyway, back to my thought process.
Pierneef…
I received an email today from my mother with regards to my previous post “Casting my Ballot…” and my note on the artist Pierneef. She asked me “is he the one similar to Gaughin, like the sunflowers?”. I suddenly realised that not everyone studied art in high school, so not everyone would know what I’m talking about. So I thought I would show you what I was talking about. Oh, and mom…NO, not at all!
Casting my Ballot…
So I’ve cast my vote and have made my voice heard, or tried too anyway.
The Train & Castle…
Sounds like the name of a pub… after much delay and a few technical difficulties I finally have uploaded the images from the Train & Castle.
CRASH, BOOM, BANG…
I’ve heard via the little sister network that my parents (read mostly mother) think that I am too quiet! Well anyone who knows the uninhibited me will know otherwise…OK, I admit that I haven’t been as vocal as I could have been in the last month or so. So here is a little missive to all those who miss my random ramblings that used to come at you suddenly from the far left field, or even from behind you!
